Mt. Zion Cemetery came to be in the 1920's.  At the turn of the century or early 1900's a school house was built on the property.  Then in the 1920's the schoolhouse was converted to a Baptist Church and burials began on the property.  Prior to the 1900's the area was inundated with a tribe of Creek Indians.

Around 2000, the church was burnt to the ground by arsonist who served time for thier mis-deeds.  The church was resurrected across town in Kinsey however the property still belongs to the church and burials are still being perfomed.

The area has a history of being haunted.  I've heard stories which describe the area as being the Devil's Playground.  I personally have experienced other than normal avtivity in the area and I am very curious as to what may be causing this.  Unfortunatley the property has been desercrated by deliquents who do not understand the significance or historical value of this area.

I've heard twice now that this area was widely known as an area for devil worshiping back in the early 1980's and prior to the church being burnt down.  Is it all the negative energy which is manifesting in this area today?  One friend said that the devil worshipers were seeking out blondes with blue eyes for sacrafice, that it was widely known to younger school children to stay away from this area especially around Halloween.  Just some scary urban legend which pops up from time to time regarding this area.
